Three questions for … Michigan’s Joshua Kim

Today’s featured student is Joshua Kim of the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Class of 2022. He was chosen by Nationwide field veterinarian Dr. Kristi Yee.

Will you please share something unexpected you discovered on your path into veterinary medicine?

Veterinary school has its own set of challenges and stresses; however, I’ve learned the best way to deal with this is to enjoy the little moments and take a pause every now and then. Being in nature helps me to reset and get into a better place to continue facing whatever challenges I’m working on.

What is your vision for the future of veterinary medicine and how does it influence the way you’re preparing?

I believe that the future of veterinary medicine will be very collaborative with different fields (One Health Initiative). As a veterinary student, I am trying to see how the different fields interact with our field, and as part of our new curriculum we are taking a One Health Course.

Can you tell us one thing about yourself that would surprise your veterinary colleagues?

I wanted to be a digital media major so I could pursues a career in the film industry. However, animals, science, and people had always been a huge passion of mine so I decided to study Animal Science and Management instead.

Thank you, Joshua and Dr. Yee!
