Last year, VPI received more than 63,000 claims related to cancer, which remains the No. 1 disease-related killer in both dogs and cats. Although we are proud to have been able to help those pets and their owners fight cancer, we would be happier to see more success stories than we do.
Yesterday, we had one of our biggest events, the VPI K9K, a walk to raise money and an opportunity to share information on cancer in pets: how to prevent it, and how to catch it early. We had a wonderful turnout, with 430 people registered to walk and many, many pets — even a pet pig!
We had smiles all around when we gave a big check for more than $17,000 to the Animal Cancer Foundation. The final donation was actually more than $20,000. Since 2007, we’ve raised more than $230,000 for cancer research!
This is National Pet Cancer Awareness Month, and we’re continuing to be active in raising awareness and money. Throughout November, VPI will donate $5 to the Animal Cancer Foundation, up to $10,000, for every Facebook, Twitter or Instagram post shared using #CurePetCancer.
Please help spread the word. Visit www.curepetcancer.com for more information, and get those #curepetcancer hashtags shared, and shared again!
