NationwideDVM is produced by the veterinary relations team at Nationwide Insurance’s pet health insurance unit. Dr. Jules Benson is Nationwide’s Chief Veterinary Officer.
Jules Benson, BVSc, MRCVS, is an experienced animal-health strategist with expertise in innovation, start-ups and marketing. A licensed veterinarian, Dr. Benson is a graduate of the University of Liverpool’s school of veterinary medicine, and a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. He has been active in conservation efforts in Africa, and he worked in clinical practice before moving into the animal health industry.
Linda Markland, CVT, has been a member of the veterinary community for more than 40 years. Her work includes a diverse range of experience, from small animal clinical practice to corporate management. She has a special interest in practice management, and
in engaging, educating and empowering veterinary technicians and nurses. Linda is an active member of veterinary-related organizations, and has served in many leadership roles.
Nicole Numbers started her career in veterinary medicine working as a receptionist at All Care Animal Emergency Referral Center. She then went on to become a technician, as well as two years assisting a veterinary pathologist. Nicole left the veterinary field for a few years and worked as an Assistant Account Executive at Bates USA Advertising Agency. Nicole is the Veterinary Education Program Manager overseeing all of the veterinary student programs at Nationwide.
Gina Spadafori joined Nationwide as a veterinary medical writer following a career as a nationally syndicated pet-care columnist and the author of more than a dozen books on pets and their care, most notably “Dogs For Dummies” and “Cats For Dummies.” She also worked as a writer/editor for the Veterinary Information Network, as well as spending 20 years as an editor and columnist at The Sacramento Bee.
